About the Bunyala Irrigation Scheme
The Bunyala Irrigation Scheme is a government economic program located in Bujwane, Kenya. The scheme was started in 1964 and is located in Busia and Siaya Counties. The National Irrigation Authority has expanded the scheme to over 3000 acres by opening up previous swampy farms for rice farming. The scheme aims to increase rice production by expanding land under irrigation and increasing yield per unit area.
